The primary focus of the Chief Financial Officer is Income, Expenditure and Assets. This directorate also provides strategic support to all business functions within Masilonyana Local Municipality.

The priorities of the directorate include:

• The effective management of Finances 
• Financial reporting to legislative bodies like National and Provincial Treasury, Department of Cooperative Governance (provincial and national) and Council 
• To ensure that the MLM debt collection is functional 
• To make sure that MLM assets are managed 
• To make sure that the institution is on the right side of the law.

The directorate includes three departments:

• Revenue Services 
• Financial Services 
• Asset Management
